The state of Idaho has rules on the licensing procedures of daycare centers. The licensing requirements must be followed by daycare providers to approve their license application by the state.

Included in the state’s licensing requirements are worker qualification, safety of the environment, and other essential factors that contribute to the safety and overall development of the children.

Classes offered through the State

The state of Iowa has established their Licensing Standards for their Day Care Centers. Thus, all staff should undergo extensive training and attend classes which are significant to the welfare of children.

To enter a CDA program, the staff should be 18 years old and above and earned a high school diploma or GED. There are 34 colleges that have qualified for CDA programs in the state of Alabama.

You can enroll in CDA programs online, but it is not fully available online since you will need a classroom experience. Classes for day care centers that are offered by the state includes Child development, Exceptional special-needs children, Child psychology, Multicultural education, and Child guidance are some of the classes that the state offers. Aside from this, staff or even the day care center owner should undergo several training such as Nutrition and Menu planning and Recognizing Symptoms of Illnesses.

Certifications Given for Completed Classes

One of the requirements to qualify as a staff or daycare director or manager is to have certification and credentials. Here are the certification and credentials accepted by the government.

  • Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) – Certification is presented to individuals and applies to all staff and director who intend to teach young children, specifically to those who demonstrate knowledge and skills in early childhood development.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) – Credential is awarded to daycare director and teachers who have acquired either a minimum of 4.5 units in continuing education or 3 credit hour course for renewal. CDA credits courses or classes such as early childhood education and development, mental health counseling and principles of adult learning. For those renewal candidates, they are required to acquire 80-hour work experience either with young children or their families in the previous years. They should also become a member of any local or national early childhood professional organization as well as earn first aid certification.
  • National Administrator Credential (NAC) – this certificate is presented to all current and aiming to be childcare managers and directors. Management, maintenance, and development of personnel, environment, and programs are generally tackled to have this credential. The NAC certification is needed to be renewed every two (2) years through completion of 20-hour work in either business or administration.

Other than these certificates, daycare providers and their staff are required to take First Aid course or CPR trainings (cardiopulmonary-resuscitations) by the government.

Cost of the Classes

Classes for daycare degrees in the state of Idaho, especially those offered in online are not really expensive. The costs usually range from $2,000 to $5,000 per year. Aside from the degrees, there are coursework offered by private programs or agencies that costs around $100 per credit.

CPR or First Aid Trainings are offered by the government and are free of charge.

Required Classes that Day Care Providers Should Take

Usually day care providers are required to study child development, psychology, as well as children’s literature. They are also required to spend some time to observe the behavior of children in classroom and work under the supervision centers. In certain cases, some day care programs have their own day care centers, where the day care provider can associate with the parents, children, and teachers in real-life scenario.

Apart from the abovementioned classes, day care providers as well as the staff should take general education courses such as English, math, sociology, and computers.
